Holi Festival 2014 Photo Diary

Photos by: Zali Pinuela

Holi  is a spring festival, also known as the festival of colours or the festival of love. The holiday signifies the victory of good over evil. Holi celebrations start with a Holika bonfire on the night before Holi where people gather, sing and dance. The next morning is a free-for-all carnival of colours, where participants play, chase and colour each other with dry powder and coloured water, with some carrying water guns and coloured water-filled balloons for their water fight. Anyone and everyone is fair game, friend or stranger, rich or poor, man or woman, children and elders.

We arrive early at the venue, SM Mall of Asia.

I'm with these girls (first photo, left to right) Zali,Beth and my sister Aira and Kaye.

We are welcomed with an Indian band playing their music.

Indian dancers performing as part of the program & belly dancing tutorial. (So fun I enjoyed it!)

Throwing of colorful powder in the air -the high light and most fun part of the event.

I really enjoyed seeing us Filipinos having fun with different people from other countries; celebrating other culture's festival with appreciation and respect.

Me having fun!

The party continues 'till ten in the evening. It was really fun and a new experience for me.
